The Weekend Of Jan 15-17

It hasn’t snowed in weeks so the skiing is terrible right now so I’ll be sticking around town this weekend doing some of this fun stuff:

  • Running all weekend long is Queer Realities 2010, Boulder’s annual LGBT film festival.  Most films are $8 but there’s a special double-feature on Sunday where $6 gets you into two films.  For those of you who attended ELEMENT’s previous Homo Culture Collective about high fashion and saw a clip from “Valentino: The Last Emperor” the full movie will be screened at the festival.  A full list of films, times and descriptions can be found here.
  • Saturday night Charlie’s is hosting a very special drag show fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for LifeGayzetteblog reports the show is from 7-11PM and will feature “Scot Alexander, the Majestic Hearts Family and the group’s owner, Phyllis.”
  • Sunday the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus is holding auditions starting at 6:30PM at Christ Church United Methodist.  This however is not a walk-in event, the chorus is requesting you contact them before the audition at info@rmarts.org and to please  “put “DGMC Audition” as your subject line and please provide an evening phone number where you may be reached.”  More info about the audition at OutFront’s calendar here.
  • Didn’t make it to the Stock Show last weekend?  Well that’s OK cos MileHighOnTheCheap has a promo code to get $8 tickets.
  • Monday by the way is Martin Luther King Jr Day.  Denver is having it’s annual marade (march and parade) in City Park. The Denver Post reports the marade starts at 9AM 17th and Josephine, winds through City Park and ends with a rally at Civic Center Park, a route that’s nearly 3 miles long.
