ELEMENT Conversation Series

HIV Stigma, Status Disclosure and Intimacy - the conversation continues…

On April 17th, ELEMENT invited the Denver gay community to a town hall conversation on HIV stigma, status disclosure and intimacy. The response was incredible.

This new ELEMENT conversation series is designed to keep the community engaged and the conversation ALIVE. Please join us as we continue to go deeper into the areas of our lives as gay men affected by HIV. Whether you know your status to be positive, negative or if you don’t know your status, you are welcome to join us at ELEMENT for this conversation.

Tuesday, May 25, 6-8PM

For more information on our Conversation Series or to let us know you’re coming, give Michael at call at 720-382-2900, ext. 10. or send an email: michael@thedenverelement.com

Touch Team Gathering

Men who have come to our events and participated in our conversations keep saying they are interested in getting more involved with ELEMENT. So, before it’s fully developed, we are going to create some volunteer opportunities with our Touch Team which is our Outreach Volunteer Program. In the coming months, the Touch Team will be responsible in promoting and building a vibrant and, healthy community along with HIV prevention efforts reducing the transmission of HIV. For now, before everything gets formal with trainings and practice outings, we wanted to offer men a chance to jump in… especially with Pridefest coming up. So, tonight we’re talking about plans for Pride, future plans for the Team, and however men want to contribute their gifts.

Call Corey with questions and to RSVP (so we can have enough food for you). We have a place for every man interested, no matter what your gifts are… even if you’re not the outreach type. 720.382.5900, ext 13 or email: corey@thedenverelement.com.

Living Legends Luncheon — Does Dinner

Spotlight on Rick Kitzman former DJ of Denver’s Historical bathhouse: The Ballpark
Thursday, June 24, 6-9PM

If you’ve lived in Denver for any significant amount of time, you’ve heard of Denver’s notorious bathhouse: The Ballpark Located on the corner of Broadway & Bayoud, (now an empty lot) with its thirty-foot waterfall pouring into an indoor pool and an abundance of hot tubs and private rooms; a man could have sex anytime of the day or night, often with strangers from opposite sides of the country and all points in between.. Being one of the busiest and most interesting places to interact with men, it holds a special place in Denver’s gay history.

Tonight we’re having dinner and chatting with one of The Ball Parks former DJ’s about it’s hey day, its effect on the local community, and its work around HIV in the 80’s.

This will be a very special evening edition of our Living Legends series held at our satellite location at 655 Broadway, 4th floor. There is on-site parking and the site is easily accessible by a number of bus lines. But space is limited. Contact Corey with questions or to RSVP at corey@thedenverelement.com 720.382.5900, ext 13.

Boyfriend University-Ongoing

Do you want to talk about dating and relationships? Would you like to discuss new ways of meeting men or improving your relationships? Are you trying to figure out what’s right for you in a relationship?

Boyfriend University is an on-going discussion group for gay men of all ages, dating history and experience, and relationship status. We talk about what works, what doesn’t work, how to define goals, how to communicate better, and how to learn new skills. We also explore topics unique to gay men like monogamy vs. open relationships, negotiating sex when one guy is HIV positive and the other is negative, and how disclosure might affect intimacy.

We meet on Saturday mornings 3 times a month. This is not a drop-in group; formal application and interview is required. For more information about how to register, please email boyfrienduniversity@thedenverelement.com or call us at 720.382.5900 ext. 16.
