HRC Makes Big Promises

March 1st, 2010 dangonzales

Over the weekend HRC had a big shin-dig in Raleigh, NC.  Pam of PamsHouseBlend was there and has an awesome first person writeup on her blog here.  Attendees were entertained by Clay Aiken and Meredith Baxter but the real headliner was HRC President (and Inspector Gadget look alike) Joe Solmonese who  made some lofty promises:

Here’s a roundup things Joe says HRC is going to do in the next year:

  • “We are going to eliminate the tax that you pay on domestic partner benefits. We’re going to get rid of that this year at long last.”
  • “We are going to extend domestic partnerships to federal employees.”
  • “We are going to get people living with HIV/AIDS treatment much earlier if they are on public assistance.”
  • “And finally, finally this year we are going to bring down the discriminatory policy known as ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’…once and for all.”

Of course we also have video of Joe Solmonese promising a transgender inclusive ENDA right before HRC threw trans folk under the bus in 2007.

At Bent Lens In Boulder, A More Complex View Of Masculinity

March 1st, 2010 dangonzales

I get so incredibly tired of gayboys confusing true masculinity with what is more accurately described as “butch mannerisms.”  To men of different generations, scenes and ways of life their masculinity means different things and the film “The Butch Factor” takes a look at those various meanings tonight at Bent Lens queer film festival in Boulder.

Here’s the trailer:

The Butch Factor screens Sat March 13th at 7:30 PM at the Nomad Theater at 1410 Quince Avenue (Broadway & Quince) in Boulder.  General admission is $8.00.  More info at Bent Lens’ website here.
